blueberry denim dress

i spotted a lovely ready-to-wear dress on the internet a while back and it completely inspired me to sew this dress (i would love to link, but i just can’t remember where to find it!!). our local fabric store has a great selection of denims and this striped one is incredibly soft and light! i used my modified bodice pattern (originally from the darling ranges dress) and made a few more changes here and there…well, some significant changes too (no placket, round neckline, buttons....), but i can’t remember everything anymore. but to my surprise, it all came together quite well!! the fit certainly could be better, but sometimes i just need to remind myself that i just started garment sewing last winter (oh, why do i always have to be so so hard on myself?!). i really love the wooden buttons like this! i’m thinking about adding ties to the back (because it's quite loose!) and i’m not sure if the belt is that flattering, but we’ll see….
