wildflower garden quilt: block #1

i finally finished my first quilt block! i have absolutely no expectations for this quilt (it’s my first!). i just want it to feel happy and pretty! and if the quilt is complete (someday…but not very soon, because this pattern does take a while to cut and assemble – a process i very much enjoy) we will have our own little secret meadow of wildflowers (scrapped together with a little bit of everything) under which we can snuggle. dreaming of sweet summers. warm evenings. dandelions. honeybees. bare feet. swings. fireflies. rivers. kanelbullars and iced tea. probably an incredibly wild and overgrown meadow (because of all its scrappiness). anyway, i decided not to worry too much about balancing colors or anything like that. just picked some of my most precious fabrics. don’t look too closely at all those little seams... sewing curves is quite challenging for an inexperienced quilter. oh, and i keep my quilt pieces in a box with my soap-making supplies (our apartment is small) and now they smell so heavenly – like beeswax and honey! so, so perfect!
