LMS Stanier 2-6-4T No 42583 at the head of a line of condemned locomotives temporarily stored at Oxley sidings while en route for breaking up at Cashmore's, Great Bridge. 5th February 1967.
Built under contract by the North British Locomotive Company in Glasgow, LMS number 2583 entered traffic in October 1936 and was withdrawn from service at Trafford Park, Manchester in October 1966.
The locomotive immediately to the rear of 42583 is Stanier Class 5 4-6-0 No 45045.
