Heeley Road, Selly Oak, Birmingham, August 1982

About to cross the A38 Bristol Road at Selly Oak is BR Sulzer Type 4 No. 46017 with the 06:56 SO Leeds - Newquay on 14th August 1982. With a substantial journey ahead of it, the train had already been travelling for over three hours when I photographed it at 10:15.

The hoarding on the bridge is an advertisement for Davenports, at that time Birmingham's last independent brewing company famous for it's Beer at Home service. It was taken over by Greenall Whitley in 1989 who promptly closed it down.
