The Restored Locomotives Cavalcade, September 1965

The Restored Locomotives Cavalcade was organised by the Stephenson Locomotive Society (Midland Area) and ran on 19th September 1965. Starting from Birmingham Snow Hill, it visited numerous lines and locations in the West Midlands including Alveley Colliery Sidings on, what is now, the Severn Valley Railway. The train is seen here on the former Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton Railway line between Dudley and Wolverhampton as it approaches Priestfield junction behind preserved GWR locomotives 4555 and 1420. The line closed to passengers in 1962 and to goods in early 1967. It was lifted soon after.
