Fairly recently split from Azure-winged Magpie after genetic studies revealed that the Iberian population had not been introduced from China but was a long-separated relict population at the opposite end of Eurasia, Iberian Magpie is a prized Western Palaearctic tick and proved quite difficult to photograph due to its wild wariness.
