20231020 (10)_Blue-cheeked_Bee-eater

One of my old non-digital pictures rephotographed. This Blue-cheeked Bee-eater turned up on an amazing weekend: I heard about it while ticking Great Spotted Cuckoo at Dungeness and nailed it in the aftermath of a torrential downpour the following morning. It was relocated on this fence behind a caravan site and I have a vivid memory of the crowd's feet drumming on the short turf before everyone burst through a hedge to find a wide deep rain-filled ditch to be jumped to reach viewing places on the far side: not all made it, with one well known twitcher ending up standing up to his waist in cold water with his valuable telescope held above his head for safety.
