Once Aquatic Warbler was a scarce but regular, expected and achievable migrant mainly seen in the South-west of Britain but with occasional records elsewhere. Then the breeding population collapsed and now it is a very rare treat, so I was keen to catch up with this elusive individual giving occasional close views along the River Adur in Sussex. A lengthy but enjoyable stakeout produced some typical photos of this skulking but attractive intricately patterned warbler.
