After their passes with the tanker A400M the Luftwaffe Tornados took centre stage, sticking with the Skytanker theme as the lead aircraft streamed its own drogue-ended hose to demonstrate buddy refuelling. This gives tactical aircraft extra reach in environments too threat rich for large tanker aircraft or in circumstances where the latter are unavailable. Great to see these Cold War warriors fly at RIAT again, especially with this topside pass included in their display. The Royal International Air Tattoo, RIAT 2023, was at RAF Fairford, Gloucestershire: the world's greatest military airshow and a must every year for any UK aviation enthusiast at least.
