A blaze of colour against a very dark cloud background as the Red Arrows' synchro pair conduct an opposition manoeuvre during the Saturday display at the Royal International Air Tattoo, RIAT 2023, at RAF Fairford, Gloucestershire: the world's greatest military airshow and a must every year for any UK aviation enthusiast at least. The Red Arrows have had some difficulties over the last few years and this season are displaying with only eight instead of their standard nine red Hawks due at least in part to the general pilot shortage in the RAF caused by the shambles of the training pipeline.
