200230624 (46)_Panzer_I_Replica
By the beginning of the 1930s Germany was designing its first real tanks, albeit the first examples were originally intended as training tanks only, to continue doctrine development and training in preparation for the real armour and enlarged army that would give weight to Guderian's Blitzkrieg doctrine developed from the writings of Fuller and Liddell-Hart that were being giving a stiff ignoring in Britain where the rich chaps of the cavalry still ruled the Army roost. With Hitler's accession to power in 1933 the process of rearmament that led inexorably to WWII began with the Panzer I - a light training tank with just two machine guns and a reputation for unreliability. But it was a learning experience and German engineers learned quickly.... This excellent replica Panzer I shows off its capability during Tankfest 2023 at The Tank Museum, Bovington Camp, Dorset.
