20230422 (96)_Allied_Armour

The legend on the 76mm gun barrel identifies the Sherman passing parked British armour as the star of the film Fury (some think it was Brad Pitt but we know better, don't we?) It is a late model Sherman: welded, widened and up-armoured hull, wider tracks and new suspension to cope with the extra weight, more powerful gun with a better anti-tank capability. The downside is that it is a tall target requiring a substantial obstacle to fight hull-down: indeed, it is a little surprising to see just how big this American medium tank looks compared to the Churchill at the left of the picture.
