This was (perhaps surprisingly given the result of actual battle) the most numerous German tank of 1939-40, providing the bulk of numbers in both Polish and French campaigns with its 20mm main armament supplemented with a single MG34. The main gun was ineffective against most Allied armour so the tank was withdrawn or re-roled as a flamethrower vehicle after that time.
