I was opening up my car for a birding visit to a nearby reserve when a Jay hopped up onto a much more nearby tree branch. Clever, flighty and quick to elude, Jays are not easy to photograph, so I moved unthreateningly slowly to raise my camera and get a few shots. A satisfying result.
