20211004 (3)_Western_Bonellis_Warbler

When we arrived at the narrow tree belt in which this Bonelli's Warbler had been found at Easter Quarff, South of Lerwick, Mainland Shetland, it's specific identity was still uncertain. Fortunately it began calling soon after we arrived and the disyllabic sound immediately identified it as Western Bonelli's Warbler, new for my wife and a species I hadn't photographed in Britain. It then showed well (intermittently) in sycamores and pines, for some time.
