20201007 (2)_Great_Spotted_Woodpecker

This first-winter is perhaps a male: it has red right across the crown, aging it, but it appears the nape is going to stay pure red while the crown is looking sullied with black. The main thing, however, is that it is in the Seafield area of Lerwick, Mainland Shetland, where Great Spotted Woodpeckers are a lot less than common: hence a Shetland tick for me, woohoo! Definitely the first Great Spot I have ever twitched.
