20191201 (3)_Hen_Harrier
Hen Harriers are now extremely difficult to see locally, where twenty years ago one or two would regularly roost in winter at Thursley Common. The decrease would seem to be related to the illegal massacre of British Hen Harriers by grouse moor managers that has left England with practically no breeders and Scotland with a rump population still under severe pressure. This ringtail(female/first-winter) at Shackleford, Surrey, was therefore very welcome.
