20191113 (6)_Eastern_Yellow_Wagtail
A two-and-a-half kilometre grind along shingle from Dunwich Beach car park to Corporation Marsh, Walberswick, brought me to the favoured site of an Eastern Yellow Wagtail, distinguished by its harsh "dzeep" call from the Western species familiar to British birders. Fortunately for me it came out of the grassy cover around the pools it mostly frequented to give excellent views and a photo-opportunity on the shingle. Tick, and much appreciated!
At present it seems to be a major rarity but with understanding of the calls and appearance, and more particularly the will to look (who cared about late Yellow Wags before the split?) it may turn out to be reasonably regular. Or it may not!
