Hawker's streamlined biplanes were a mainstay of the early 1930s RAF and in the remote, backward theatres of the Near East and East Africa survived to be combatants in WWII. The Demon two-seat fighter equipped not only Regular but Auxiliary Squadrons and is similar to the widely used Hart light bomber: a family resemblance survives into the single-seat Fury fighter.
Photographed displaying at Shuttleworth's RAF 100 Airshow at Old Warden airfield, Bedfordshire.
