20171014 (4)_Rock_Thrush

Rock Thrush (aka Rufous-tailed Rock Thrush, but not usually in Britain) is a seriously rare visitor to our shores and often birds that turn up don't stay long or are inaccessible. Accordingly this winter-plumaged male was bound to be popular even a couple of kilometres from the nearest road, among quarries on a Welsh hillside at Pwll Du. We joined a crowd that had already located the bird and had brilliant views of this rarity at fairly close quarters.
