For an hour we had a thin time by the pool at the puszta hide provided by Istvan Bartol near his Hungarian village. Then we found out why, as a male Sparrowhawk that had clearly been lurking on a branch nearby flashed through the clearing and caught a Tree Sparrow. Once it left we had much more small bird action - and of course we'd had these marvellous views of the predator.
