First summer (retained juvenile feathers in the wings made that apparent) showing well after a frustrating wait while it preened in heavy cover. The end of a long quest - I've seen quite a few Purple Herons in Britain over the years but they've never shown properly for me until this one. Thanks also to the reserve staff who were very helpful.
