20171006 (19)_Red-breasted_Flycatcher

Presumed first-winter bird found late in the day, Sandgarth, Mainland Shetland. This bird gave us some angst as initially it wouldn't show very well - it was calling constantly so we were in contact, but for much of the time it fed deep in a copse. Eventually I got a sequence. Despite a touch of brown in the crown (which has a slight capped appearance) also showing in the ear coverts and black or blackish uppertail coverts with broad buffish fringes, we decided on the tertial pattern it must be Red-breasted and not Taiga. An instructive bird.
