Posting

Posting the trot. Posting is the up-down movement that the rider makes when the horse is trotting. The trot can be an uncomfortable pace to sit for the rider; therefore you post putting your heels down, squeezing the horse slightly with your calves and inner thigh to create the optimal balance and movement between the rider and the horse. It takes your core muscle in your abdomen, your thighs and calves muscles to create that perfect balance so you don’t topple over. When done well, it is not uncomfortable for the horse, but it is physically demanding of the rider.
