Krakkau MBT

The Krakkau 1 is a 3rd generation main battle tank prototype built by the United Carpathians' Army. It was a quick and cheap response to the on-going Common Main Battle Tank program. It was heavily rebuilt from Kogot 2 medium tanks which were avalaible in great numbers. It received composite armor and ERA plating on the hull, a 1000hp multi-fuel engine and a completely new turret. However it came at a price. The tank's weight went from 38t to 52t but the new engine and the hydropneumatic suspension negates that effect. Most of the extra weight came from the larger turret which later ended up on the Krakkau 2. Its front is thick and well sloped plus it mounts a significantly bigger gun, a 120mm smooth-bore cannon and 55 rounds for it which are separated from the fighting compartment by an electrically operated door. The Krakkau 1 is also equipped with two heavy machine guns, one mounted co-axially, the other on an anti-aircraft mount, Global Positioning System (GPS) and Thermal Observation and Gunnery System, enabling it to fight at night in poor visibility and through smoke screens.

Some backstory for my country in DC6:

The base model, the Kogot 2 was a late 40s/early 50's era tank in service of the USST's Army. However, the Tongorian Union collapsed in 1956 due to the extensive arms race it could no longer fund. In the coming years a new country emerged on the ashes of the Union. At first, the Carpathian Economic Community was a reqional organisation which aimed to bring about economic integration and equality between its member states. It was created by the Treaty of Chongrad of 1962. Upon the formation of the United Carpathians in 1971, the CEC was incorporated. It united all of the smaller nations in the region that now were free from the Tongoria's tyranny. They are now called the United Carpathians, treating all member states the same.
