Closed Chamber

These pictures are of implementing a permaculture design for composting humanure, in an urban environment where there may be issues around contaminating the soil with pathogens, The wheely bin is a sealed container which can be moved around easily when heavy, the pipes allow any moisture to evaporate, the white pipe outside the bin should be painted black, the heat building up inside the pipe will draw out moisture. The loo itself is a box with conventional loo seat fixed to it, underneath is a bucket, once one had made a deposit a few hand fulls of saw dust or bark chippings are used to cover the night soil- instead of flushing with water, once the bucket is half full then it can be emptied into the composting unit, the humanure can slowly rot down in an adapted container, this is useful if the ground water, or water table is high.
