DWARAPALAR, THIRUKAZHIPPALAI, CUDDALORE DISTRICT.

Temple Name: Thirukazhipalai

Swami: Palvanna nathar

Ambal: Vedhanayagi

This temple was located at திருக்கழிப்பாலை, near Sivapuri13 Kms southeast of Chidambaram on the north bank of river Kollidam.

The temple was originally built by Maduraiyum Elamum Konda Parakesarivarman alias Parantaka I (907–955 A.D.) at Killae village which was destroyed by floods in the river Kollidam.

The presiding deity Paalvanna Nathar was removed from there and kept in a new temple built at திருக்கழிப்பாலை.

An excellent sculpture of shiva and parvathi in standing posture is there in the Grabhagraha is behind the lingam which is a rare one!

A separate shrine for kala bairavar is there. So, local people knows this temple only as "Bhairavar temple".
