Herbert Bowen Branch Library--Detroit MI
The Bowen Branch Library was one of the first in the city to be built using funds from philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. It opened in December 1912 and was named after a member of the Library Commission. Today it makes a special effort to reach out to Detroit's Mexican-American community in the area of its boundaries.
The architect of the building was William B. Stratton, husband of the founder of Pewabic Pottery, Mary Chase Stratton.
