South Elevation: S. James Herman School--Detroit MI

Herman School was built in 1944 to educate children of the area, including those from the then-new Herman Gardens housing project (torn down in the late 1990s). New housing is currently going up on the old Herman Gardens site.

The Herman School was nominated for listing on the National Register as a contributing property to the Detroit Public Schools MPS. Ater the public school closed, the building housed a charter school. It is now a church.
