South Elevation: Samuel B. Dixon School--Detroit MI

Dixon School was a handsome example of Art Deco architecture. Unfortunately, the building has been ravaged. Ironically, the building has been nominated for inclusion on the National Register of Historical Places. By the time it makes the list, the structure may be razed.

The school was named after Samuel Dixon, a veteran of the Civil War and a contributor to the Grand Army of the Republic. The school was built on land originally in Dearborn Townhip that was later annexed to the city of Detroit.
