Facade: Michigan Central Train Station--Detroit MI

The Michigan Central Train Station has long been a symbol of both the decline and potential of Detroit. Built in 1913 at a cost of $50 million in today's dollars, the station is a Beaux Arts monument to the era of train travel. As that mode of transportation receded in importance, so did the station.

There have been plans floated to rehabilitate the structure, but all have come to naught. Only a formidable fence has been erected to inhibit unauthorized exploration.
