Incense makers
Young women in Tripura, India were trained on bamboo incense sticks production. INBAR's Action Rsearch Project in Tripura state, northeast India, commenced in 2002 and is implemented by the Tripura Bamboo and Cane Development Center (TRIBAC). Over the past years, the project has helped develop community-based production of agarbatti (incense) sticks that are now providing incomes of about 35 USD per month to nearly 1000 indivdual producers in 140 Self Help groups - 95% of whom are women, all working in their spare time from home.
