Short biochemical set for screening stool pathogens:

Tube indole = Negative

TSI slant = Alkaline / acid, with gas and slight hydrogen disulfide production

LIA slant = Lysine decarboxylase negative, deaminase negative

MIO agar = Motility positive, ornithine decarboxylase positive

Urea slant = Urease negative
