SINDY 1965- PENNY, ALICE, PATCH and PAUL

Pedigree continued to ship the Made in England dolls that were released in 1963 and 1964, though the hollow leg dolls were probably being phased out. The new doll for 1965 was a Made in Hong Kong issue, possibly late ‘64 but exact release is unknown. These dolls were made from the same head mould and a similar vinyl, but they used several different factories in the Far East and due to inconsistent production methods the vinyl shrank, some batches more than others, producing the ‘mini’ or ‘pinhead’ Sindy as she is known by collectors, with a very small hard head and limbs. These dolls were all very pretty with high colouring but their face paint was applied using a mask, therefore all looked the same, and lack the individuality of earlier issues. Also the hair fibre was less wiry and was rooted thicker. Their limbs still retained the bending wires and the box has the printed starburst lower right. The stand is different, bearing ‘The Sindy Set’ rather than just ‘Sindy’.
