Here's a Mercedes Americans - especially Americans who lived through the sixties - would easily recognize. :-)
The second-generation SL Class was produced between 1963 and 1971 and was powered by inline sixes. This generation begat three separate models as the engine displacement increased, the names based as usual on centiliters - the 230SL (2.3 liters) produced from 1963 to 1967, the 250SL (2.5 liters) in 1968 and 1969, and the 280SL (2.8 liters) in 1970 and 1971.
I think this was a 250SL.
It came with either a four-speed automatic transmission or either a four-speed or five-speed stick shift.
