Salsa Lesson, Fiesta de Flores, New York Botanical Garden
Clarisel Gonzalez, a Flickr pal of mine from the Bronx who photographs Hispanic-themed events in New York City and who photographed last year's Fiesta de Flores celebration at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx for last year, couldn't make this year's shindig, so I sort of filled in for her this year! :-)
This photo depicts a group of folks learning how to dance the salsa from dance instructor Tito Sandoval, who made a return appearance from last year's festivities. Soory for not getting Tito himself in the picture.
The Fiesta de Flores ostensibly celebrated flowers from Latin America, but paid special tribute to the culture and hertiage of the region. As fate would have it, the New York Botanical Garden's Haupt Conservatory (the lawn of which this year's Fiesta de Flores was held) had a Caribbean-themed exhiibit that had been running since April.
The last day of both events was September 16, the day I went.
