We reported this banded oystercatcher to the American Oystercatcher Working Group and learned that it was originally captured and banded September 19, 2007 just across the inlet from where this photo was taken. Since that time, it has been reported 47 times. Curiously, it has been reported from only two locations, this site at Barnegat Inlet and one at Cedar Key, FL (north of Tampa). These two locations are just over 1,000 miles apart. The bird has made this trip at least six times.
