Football fans outside the gates of Ferry Field, November 22, 1924: State Street at Hoover, Ann Arbor.

Football games were moved from Ferry Field in 1927, when Michigan Stadium was opened. In 1954, the main gates shown here were removed to allow construction of the Athletic Administration building on this corner. (Groundbreaking for construction of the gates was held on October 9, 1905, following a design by the Albert Kahn architectural firm of Detroit.)

Found in the album of a former University of Michigan student, the photo shows part of the crowd at the 1924 Iowa game, which Iowa won, 9-2.
