In the student album from which this snapshot came, the event was identified as the U-M fall games on Ferry Field, Freshmen vs. Sophomores, or more specifically, the class of '27 vs. '28. So the year must be 1924. And here we see the victorious freshmen, returning to campus after combat. The photographer was so excited he could barely hold the camera still: he must have been a freshman, too.
