In Memoriam: Wystan
Marquee of the Majestic Theater at Night, 316-320 Maynard Street, 1924.
The movie at the Majestic was a silent called "Boy of Mine," released on December 30, 1923. I'm guessing that this photo was taken in February, 1924. In the foreground is the illuminated marquee of the Ray A. Dolph Funeral Home, at 310-312 Maynard. This view looks south on Maynard from the Liberty Street end.
After the Majestic was demolished in the early 1950s (it had been closed for several years as an unsafe firetrap), it was replaced by Ann Arbor's second municipal "carport" -- as parking structures then were called.
