In Memoriam: Wystan
A busy day on State Street, September 1915(?), looking north from North University Avenue
Probably taken at the start of the fall term in September. The banner over the street advertises the Michigan Daily, the U-M student newspaper. This is a neat old photo, evidently taken after a rain shower, but one wishes it were sharper, and with sunlight on the building fronts. The horses have vanished; the delivery van is motorized. Can anyone identify the make of the open auto in the foreground?
Today's Red Hawk Bar and Grill is located where Wahr's bookstore used to be.
The picture gets a little bit bigger if one clicks on "All Sizes."
