The Citadel of Jerusalem [3896]
To the south of the Jaffa Gate stands the Citadel of Jerusalem, also known as the "Tower of David." Originally a military facility, standing on the highest point in the city, the citadel now houses a museum.
Though ruins on the site date back to around since the 8th century BCE, the current citadel was constructed during the crusader period. The citadel was used by the Jordanian Army, until the reunification of the city during the Six Day War in 1967.
