Future home of luxury apartments on two blocks just west of the ballpark

The construction on a mid-rise seven-story luxury apartment complex on two blocks overlooking Minute Maid Park is the latest in the flurry of housing activity in downtown Houston.

One of those blocks was the location of the Ben Milam Hotel, which was demolished two years ago. The apartment building at 500 Crawford is expected to have 400 units. The design will mirror the style of the Astros' home, with a stone, stucco and decorative iron exterior, and the units will be noise-free.

The apartment high-rise, dubbed Block 52, will include a 589-space private parking garage situated above the retail space and below the residential units, as well as two floors of amenities, including a resort-style, rooftop pool.
