Aegina's Temple, West Pediment - XIII

The fully armed Athena with shield, helmet and lance, wears over the breast and shoulders the so-called “aegis”, a mighty goatskin edged with snakes. A medusa head probably made of another material was also attacched to the breast, as is shown by two peg holes.
