The "Farnese Hercules" in Florence
An Antonine copy of a now lost bronze original dating to late 4th century BC and attributed to Lysippos. The statue shows the Herakles resting from his 11th labour: the hero leans on his club draped a lion-skin, holding the apples that he has gathered in the Garden of the Hesperides, behind his back, in his right hand.
The sculpture was moved from Villa Medici in Rome to Florence in 1787.
