Buonamico Buffalmacco VII – The Last Judgment
The “wide gate of the Hell”.
Buffalmacco paints the gate of Hell on the right lower right corner of his "Last Judgment". Just in correspondence with the gate, a dramatic scene is inserted: young women hurl themselves on others, as they emerge in frenzy from the gates of hell, and hands of devils and hooks drag them inside the hell.
