Away from the Mountains
With nothing else due in daylight on the line to Rakhiv we headed west to the relatively flat terrain on the Chernivtsi to Kolomyya route. We hadn't anticipated spending any time on this line but noticed there were two trains booked to follow each other relatively closely from Chernivtsi which would be right for the light and with it not being too far to drive we decided it would be worth an explore.
The first train was another short push-pull set with single half of a 2M62 like that we had seen earlier in the day, but fortunately for us the loco was the right end of the set this time. Half of 2M62-1114B is seen near journey's end on the outskirts of Kolomyya with train no.6465 14:40 service from Chernivtsi on 24th October 2019. The second train was supposed to be an overnight Chernivtsi to Odesa service but unfortunately this never materialised.
