Fomitopsis pinicola

This may just be showing off, but I went back for another look at this bracket fungus to check my identification and get more pictures. It turns out that there are four of them, of which this is the largest and best.

 

I did the lighted match test to see if the top surface is a resinous crust, and it is, so I'm sure of my identification now.

 

I'm pleased with the picture too.
