A Desert Swimming Hole
365: The 2015 Edition (326/365)
We were camped down by the red rocks that are on the horizon. Shyla was overwhelmed with joy that we'd found a swimming hole in the desert! Unfortunately, aside from one illicit swim, I couldn't let her go in the water. Desert "pot holes" contain rare organisms that wait patiently for rain so that they can hatch and live. Introducing a dog or other "contaminant" to the rain water is said to be very bad for those organisms. So, after the illicit swim, we just gazed at the water, much to Shyla's dismay.
