Bull Elk Herds his Harem

In the high mountains of Colorado, the elk are carrying out their yearly rut. The huge bull elk gather a harem of cow elk and their calves. The bull spends about a month keeping his harem together and protecting them from other bull elk interlopers. In this photo, the bull is moving his harem from one area to another.
